The DB provides that the first Interim Valuation Date must be specified in the entry in the Contract Particulars against clause 4. As stated in the footnote corresponding with that entry the JCT recommends the first Interim Valuation Date should be not more than one month after the Date of Possession. Subsequent Interim Valuation Dates are to be the same date in each month.

This Practice Note explains who the Joint Contracts Tribunal JCT are and also provides an overview of the most commonly used contracts within the JCT suite in relation to traditional procurement, design and build procurement and management routes of procurement. The JCT publishes a suite of standard form building contracts and associated documents, including collateral warranties that are widely used for construction projects in the UK. This Practice Note considers which parties are responsible for design, the standard of care to be exercised, and other key provisions relating to design including how discrepancies are dealt with, the design submission procedure and copyright. It also contains drafting notes and links to other suggested clauses where the parties may wish to further amend the standard JCT provisions. The effect of the Notice of Completion of Making Good Defects was that any defects required to be rectified under those clauses were deemed to have been made good. It can be used where the sub-contracted works are fully designed, or if the sub-contractor is required to design all or a part of the works. It can only be used when the main contract is the Design and Build Contract. It can be used when either the main contract works or the sub-contract works are to be carried out in sections.
